Tongariro Alpine Crossing

Tongariro was the first national park to be established in New Zealand and the fourth in the world. This stunning wilderness is a dual World Heritage area, recognising the area’s important Maori cultural and spiritual associations as well as its amazing natural attributes.

The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is one of New Zealand's most popular walks through the Tongariro National Park. The hike takes 6 to 8 hours and features a variety of impressive volcanic terrain. It is designated one of the ‘Great Walks’ by the New Zealand government’s Department of Conservation. Ohakune is the perfect location to embark on this walk.

We have special Tongariro Alpine Crossing Packages available for you between November and April, and we also offer early bird specials for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
If you are planning a visit outside of these dates then we can accommodate you year round, and look forward to welcoming you soon.
